Ancestors' Areni Noir natural red wine 2022 (sulfite-free)

Armenian natural wine without sulfites – Ancestral amphora method

This natural red wine comes from the mountains of southern Armenia, where ancient vines grow at over 1,400 meters on volcanic soils. Made from the local Areni Noir grape, it is slowly fermented in traditional clay amphorae called karas, with no added sulfites.

It reveals a beautiful ruby color and aromas of ripe dark fruits, with hints of spice and leather. On the palate, it's balanced, elegant, and intense, with a long, smooth finish.

Perfect with red meats, spicy dishes, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now or let it mature in the cellar for a few more years.

About Trinity Canyon Vineyards

The story of Trinity Canyon Vineyards started in two thousand nine, when three (Trinity) enthusiastic and determined wine aficionados decided to step into the mysterious world of wine crafting. Assisted by an equally passionate group of winegrowers and winemakers, they established a unique vineyard in the Vayots Dzor Highlands,in the close vicinity of the world’s oldest known wine producing site dating back some 6100 years. Trinity wines are filled with faith, traditions and legends of Armenian winemakers that will always serve as a beacon for all our undertakings.

Trinity Canyon Vineyards

The adventure of Trinity Canyon Vineyards began in 2009 when three friends, owners of the renowned restaurant The Club in Yerevan, decided to embark on the fascinating journey of winemaking. Their ambition: to offer their guests exceptional Armenian wines. Supported by passionate winemakers, they established their estate in the village of Aghavnadzor, in the heart of the Vayots Dzor wine region. This region, one of the oldest in the world, boasts a unique terroir with volcanic soil, mild winters, sunny days, and altitudes reaching up to 1,800 meters.

From the very beginning, Trinity adopted organic and sustainable viticultural practices, resulting in the creation of Armenia’s first certified organic wine. In 2020, their Trinity 6100 Areni 2018 won a gold medal at Challenge Millésime Bio in Montpellier, one of the most prestigious international competitions for organic wines. Trinity’s commitment to sustainable viticulture is also reflected in the biodiversity of its vineyards, where birds and bees thrive, free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

A Passionate Team and Exceptional Wines

At the helm of Trinity Canyon Vineyards, co-founder and executive director Hovakim Saghatelyan is often called the "philosopher of wine." Author of the book Aygi, he is a key figure in Armenian winemaking. The cellar master, Artem Parseghyan, a renowned oenologist with over 10 years of experience, holds two Master’s degrees in science and teaches at the Yerevan Wine Academy.

While Trinity explores international grape varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay, it is the indigenous varieties that define its identity. Areni, the emblematic Armenian red grape, is the soul behind the renowned Trinity Eh and Trinity 6100 wines, named in tribute to the world's oldest known winery (6100 years old), discovered in the Areni-1 cave.

Trinity is also one of the few Armenian wineries producing natural wines in traditional clay amphorae (karas), continuing an ancient winemaking tradition. Its unique cuvées, Trinity Ancestors’ Areni and Trinity Ancestors’ Voskehat, honor age-old vinification methods. By blending innovation with respect for tradition, Trinity Canyon Vineyards has established itself as a key player in the revival of Armenian wine.
