Wines made from Malbec Grape Variety

Malbec is the main grape variety of AOC Cahors, it produces a sober, structured, fresh and fragrant wines. It is cultivated throughout the South West of France. After a period of decline, planting has resumed thanks to the success of Cahors wines. This grape variety also contributes to Beregerac, Buzet and Côtes-du-frontonnais, it is part of the grape varieties of the AOC Bordeaux, Médoc, Graves, Saint-émilion, Pomerol, Fronsac, Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux and Côtes-de-bourg. Under the name of Cot, this grape variety has won the Loire and participates in the red and rosé wines of Touraine appelation, as well as the rosé from Anjou. Its main allies are Gamay and Cabernet Franc. It is also poorly cultivated in Languedoc.

Malbec is widely cultivated worldwide. It has thus become the main red in Argentina where it produces ripe and sunny wines. In Armenia Karas Wines is the only estate to cultivate Malbec. The grape variety is present in the red winesKaras Classic, Karas Reserve, KEF red as well as in the monovarietal wine Karas Malbec.
