The climate is noted for its dryness. The quantity of precipitations according to altitude oscillates between 300 and 800 meters. The main natural land shafts are semiarid deserts and prairies. Mountainous and meadow-like steppes are prevalent. In the region territory, substantial reserves of beneficial ores and mineral waters have been discovered. The territory is divided by numerous creeks, rivers, and glens. Thanks to the great quantity of sunny days during the year (average 300 days/year), the grapes growing in Vayotz Dzor region have a high percentage of sugar, which guarantees a high concentration of alcohol, as a result of which it is possible to produce high-quality wine.
